Taxation without representation that was what started our way to freedom. Because the French and Indian war was costly for the British, at wars end King George suggested taxing the American Colonies to recoup their costs and gain control over the colonial government that became independent while the Crown was distracted by the war. A series of actions including the Stamp Act (1765) the Townsend Acts (1767) and the Boston Massacre (1770). When the Crown attempted to tax the Tea that was what spurred the colonists into action and laid down the groundwork for the American Revolution.
I'm not going into the entire history of the Revolution, I'm merely stating a comparison that what happened 244 years ago seems that in the 21 century starting or has started...deje vu. It appears that little by little our liberties are being slowly taken away. Our elected officials no longer represent the will of the people but the will of their conscience, if they have any to begin with. They are against school prayer, they want God removed from the Public Buildings, they object to the use of Religious symbols for public display, in essence they don't respect our rights, but the rights of special interest groups.
They have run our country to the brink of bankruptcy, we own large debts to foreign countries. They outsourced most of our manufacturing work to overseas countries, virtually bringing us from the largest manufacturers in the world to now mostly a service nation. Large corporations have failed, Banks are failing our economy is in deep recession and their solution to the problem is spending spending and more spending..to offset the spending they will propose a huge tax increases. Rather cut taxes to allow the people to have more money to invest they take it away from us so that they can spend more. A classic example is the latest Stimulus or Porkulus bill that just passed...AGAIN, AGAINST THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!
SO HOW DO WE STOP THIS MADNESS?
We have to start taking or country back, not by violent revolution, but by forming nationwide grass roots where we can get the word out to all citizens and having them join our movement in over throwing our government not as I said by violence but by the power that we have! THE VOTING POWER. Each election cycle we have the power to remove the incumbents up for re-election and replacing them with candidates that will represent us. It will take time, that before Obama's term is up he will have to deal with a CONSERVATIVE CONGRESS, Where the likes of a Barney Franks, Chris Dodd , Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Olympia Snow, Arlen Specter, Chuck Schumer and any other LIberal Democract or Liberal Republican be given the boot
WE CAN DO IT, WE HAVE THE POWER OF VOTING TO MAKE THE CHANGES TOGETHER BY JOINING THE GRASSROOTS MOVEMENT IN BRINGING BACK OUR AMERICA!
